Tirupati: AP Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (AP SPDCL) is taking initiative to provide uninterrupted power supply to Chittoor district especially to temple city Tirupati.

SPDCL is running its operations from Tirupati covering five districts. It has decided to strengthen the electricity supply network in the city and got world bank financial support to build 23 new electric substations in various locations in the district including in Tirupati. SPDCL officials have identified the sites to construct 7 new sub stations in Tirupati by spending Rs 30 crore.

Among the 7 sub stations 3 will come on the outskirts and four will come in prime locations of the city. It is planned to set up substations at Zoopark, Upadyaya Nagar, Padmavthipuram, Vidyuth Nagar , Sithamma Nagar, Municipal water works office at Kaadhi Colony and at Sridevi complex.

Among them two will be indoor substations. In addition, APSPDCL is constructing one 132 KV huge substation to supply quality power to consumers in Tirupati and SPDCL CMD H Harinath Rao has been directly supervising the works. He told The Hans India that SPDCL aims to improve power supply in Tirupati.

``We will build new sub stations with the latest technology and as early as possible and we will complete this 132 KV substation shortly to enhance the power supply capacity in temple city,'' he added.
