Atchannaidu calls out CM Jagan on BC empowerment

Amaravati: TDP state president K Atchannaidu said that having made huge promises at the time of elections, Chief Minister Y S Jagan mohan Reddy started 'betraying' the backward classes in all respects after coming to power in Andhra Pradesh.
Atchannaidu accused the Chief Minister of turning 'social justice' upside down in the past 19 months by giving far less nominated and advisor posts to the BCs who constituted more than 50 per cent of the state's population. Jagan came to power by promising more than 50 per cent reservations for BCs in nominated posts and works but now he was bent on doing gross injustice to these communities.
In a statement here, the TDP leader said that the YSRCP government gave 672 directors' posts in the BC corporations but they were not given powers or funds. Whereas, by cutting down reservations in the local and civic bodies, the BCs had lost over 16,800 posts in civic and local bodies that had both powers and funds. These posts included zilla parishad chairpersons, mandal parishad chairpersons, mayors, municipal chairpersons, sarpanches, ZPTCs, MPTCs, corporators, councillors, ward members, etc.
Atchannaidu said that by cutting down local body posts, Jagan Mohan Reddy had distanced the BCs from positions of power out of sheer political considerations.
The BCs were not given even 10 per cent of top level posts like advisors to the CM, vice-chancellors and top level nominated posts in the prestigious bodies like the TTD and the APIIC.
The YSRCP regime had totally ignored the BCs, who constitute more than 50 per cent of the population, while a lion's share of the top posts with power and funds were given to the Chief Minister's own caste.
Atchannaidu advised the Chief Minister and his ministers not to boast about BC Sankranti any more since the volunteer jobs with low salaries and corporations' directors posts without powers would not ensure social justice for them in any way.
