Athletics championship to begin in city on Oct 4
State level sixth junior category athletics championship-2019 will held here from October 4 to 6, announced MP Margani Bharat.
Rajamahendravaram: State level sixth junior category athletics championship-2019 will held here from October 4 to 6, announced MP Margani Bharat. About 1,200 players from 13 districts will participate in the event. Events of 1,000 metres and 10,000 metres run, high-jump, etc, will be held.
Speaking to the media at the Government College grounds here on Tuesday, he said so far, our country has bagged 24 medals in Olympic competitions and it was a matter of great pride for all of us. He said that the central government allotted an amount of Rs 2,000 crore for the development of sports in the country.
An international stadium will come up in the city shortly based on global standards and the city would be developed as a sports hub, Bharat added. He said that students and youngsters should also take interest in participating in sports to remain physically and mentally fit.
Rajahmahendravaram Municipal Commissioner Abishikit Kishore, District Olympic Association president TVS Ranga Rao, Rajamahendravaram Association president and secretaries A R Rao and S N Raju and others were present on the occasion.
