CM Jagan Reddy participates in 'The Hindu Excellence in Education' program, emphasises on the need for quality Education
The Hindu Excellence in Education program has held at Gateway hotel in Vijayawada on Wednesday to emphasise on the importance of English as a medium of instruction in the government-run schools in Andhra Pradesh.

The chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, The Hindu Group chairman N Ram and Education minister Suresh have launched the program by lighting the lamp.
Addressing the gathering, the chairman of Hindu has lauded Cm Jagan Mohan reddy's move of introducing English medium in government schools. He said it is a Radical approach by the chief minister to make the poor pursue their studies in English Medium. The scheme would help the poor out in the state. However, he took a potshot at the people who are opposing the move.
Followed by N Ram's address, the chief minister had addressed the gathering beginning with the statistics of the literacy rate in the state; he said that the Andhra Pradesh state has an illiteracy rate of 33 per cent to that of national's illiteracy rate of 27 per cent. He highlighted the fact India has 23 per cent of enrolment in higher Education compared to Russia 81 and China 50.
We are practically offering the English Medium with free of cost. Apart from the English Medium in the schools, we are making Telugu as a compulsory subject both in government and private schools as well. "In the first phase of, the scheme would be applicable for 1 to 6 classes subsequently it will be enhanced to the high school classes," CM opined.
"We have started this program and will make it successful in the next four years with the help of the like-minded people's support. Apart from the quality of Education, we are revamping the schools with excellent infrastructure in a phased manner," CM Jagan asserted. On the other hand, he also emphasised on providing a quality meal as part of the Mid-day meal scheme. He said his government is providing financial assistance of Rs 15,000 to the mothers who send their wards to the schools.
The Chief Minister has stressed the modifications in the curriculum of Education. He asserted that the degree course has enhanced to four years from three years which is called as Degree honours while the B Tech also increased a year to make it to Engineering honours. He said that one extra year ss is known to be an internship, which helps to focus on the job orientation.
The chief minister has thanked The Hindu for organising an event to emphasise on the need of quality education.
