Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate the joint project of the state government and Amul on November 26, said minister for animal husbandry Seediri Appala Raju.

Addressing the media at the Secretariat here on Friday, the minister said that 7,125 bulk milk chilling centres would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,362 crore in three phases all over the state. As part of the celebration of World Fishermen Day on Saturday, the Chief Minister would lay foundation stone for four fishing harbours, he said.

The state government would purchase directly from the dairy farmers. The bulk milk chilling centres would be run by Rythu Bharosa Kendras under the aegis of women dairy farmers.

In the first phase, milk would be purchased through the bulk milk chilling units in Prakasam, Chittoor and Kadapa districts. The AP-Amul milk project would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on November 26.

Referring to the construction of eight fishing harbours, the minister said that the Chief Minister would lay foundation stone for four harbours on Saturday, November 21, in addition to inaugurating 25 aqua hubs. This would enable the fishermen to get continuous livelihood without any break throughout the year.

Referring to the YSR Cheyutha programme, the minister said that 2.50 lakh beneficiaries came forward to rear dairy cattle, sheep and goats at a cost of Rs 5,386 crore. Each unit of dairy cattle, goats and sheep would cost Rs 75,000 and the beneficiaries would be given good quality units.

Under the milk chilling units, five to 10 lakh litre milk would flood the market.

The minister announced that the dairy cattle would be purchased from Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab and Telangana and from the state also. However, the goats and sheep could be purchased from any district.

The minister said that purchase committees would be set up for buying goats and sheep comprising SERP officer, bank representative, veterinary officer along with the beneficiaries.

One lakh milch cattle would be distributed to the beneficiaries in three months starting from December 31 in ten districts except Chittoor, Prakasam and Kadapa.
