Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and the State DGP D Gautam Sawang and others paid rich tributes to police martyrs at the Indira Gandhi Municipal corporation stadium to mark the police martyrs commemoration Day.

Hundreds of police personnel with the families attended the event.

Addressing on the occasion, CM Jagan said the government would introduce insurance cover of Rs.30 lakh to the home guards and Rs.40 lakh to the police in case of death while on duty.

He said the state government had increased the salary of homeguards from Rs.18,000 to Rs.21,000 per month and implementing many welfare schemes to the police.

He congratulated the home Minister M Sucharita and DGP D Gautam Sawang for implementing the insurance to the home guards and the police in the State.
