Guntur: Chief Secretary L V Subrahmanyam described veteran poet Gurram Jashuva as a 'great poet and Kavi Chakravarti.' Addressing a meeting held at Annamaiah Kalavedika at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple Gardens in Guntur city on Sunday on the occasion of 124th birth anniversary celebrations of Gurram Jashuva, organised by the Gurram Jashuva Kala Peetam, the Chief Secretary explained how the latter attracted the people with his writings and made his mark through writings.

Maha Sahasra Avadhani Dr Garikipati Narasimha Rao recalled how Gabbilam and Piradousi influenced the society and brought name and fame to poet Gurram Jashuva. He urged the youth draw inspiration from the writings of Gurram Jashuva.

MLC and Gurram Jashuva Kalapeetam Chairman Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad said that they were celebrating the Gurram Jashuva birth anniversary celebrations under the aegis of Gurram Jashuva Kalapeetam every year and added that the celebrations would continue till September 28.

Later, Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad felicitated L V Subrahmanyam and Dr Garikiparti Narashima Rao. High Court Judge Justice Elisha, Jnanpeeth Award recipient Koalakaluri Enoch were among those participated in the programme.
