Tirupati: The district industrial export promotion committee (DIEPC) meeting has approved Rs 5.10 crore subsidies for 88 industries by clearing their claims in Tirupati district. Chairing the meeting at the Collectorate on Friday, District Collector K Venkataramana Reddy said that the loans under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) have to be grounded on time. The property tax dues of industries under the purview of APIIC also are to be cleared immediately by them.

He said the performance of Khadi and Village industries has to be improved. The District Lead Bank manager has to ensure speedy grounding of loans to these industries by various banks. From the formation of the district, out of 465 applications to set up industries, 450 approvals were given while the remaining are under consideration.

Out of Rs 5.10 crore subsidies provided to 88 industries by the scrutiny committee, investment subsidy was sanctioned for 67 industries, power subsidy to 10 industries, interest subsidy to 10 and stamp duty exemption has been given to one industry. The meeting reviewed the progress of setting up of wood carving cluster in Madhavamala, copper vessels cluster in Yerramareddy Palem, Venkatagiri Saree printing and dying cluster which were taken up under community development programme.

The Collector said the value of exports from industries in the district till December 2022 stood at Rs 11,114.14 crore. To prevent accidents in industries, the safety committee has been initiating steps and its guidelines would be implemented by all the industries. The meeting approved sanctioning of 9.51 acres of APIIC land for five industries in Tirupati and Naidupet.

District industries officer Prathap Reddy, Zonal managers of APIIC Chandrasekhar and Suhana Sony, Lead Bank manager Subhash, Chief inspector of factories Ramakrishna, district fire officer Ramanaiah, AP Pollution Control Board EE Narendra, industrialists and others attended the meeting.
