Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas on Thursday said that the State government introduced ‘Nadu-Nedu’ programme to provide quality education and infrastructure facilities to the students studying in government schools.

Vijayawada: Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas on Thursday said that the State government introduced 'Nadu-Nedu' programme to provide quality education and infrastructure facilities to the students studying in government schools.

The Minister launched the 'Nadu-Nedu' programme at Dalavai Subbaramayya Municipal Corporation High School along with VMC Commissioner Prasanna Venkatesh.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that to compete with the present competition boldly, the Government was introducing medium of instruction in English from Class I to VI from the next academic year with Telugu subject as compulsory. The minister asked the students whether they are interested to study in English Medium. There was a huge response from the students saying yes.

He said that 1077 schools taken up Nadu-Nedu programme across the district. To encourage children towards education the government introduced Amma Vodi programme by giving Rs 15,000 financial help to the mothers of students from Class I to X.

VMC Commissioner Prasanna Venkatesh said there were 106 schools under the Corporation limits and 13,189 boys and 12,189 girls were studying in various schools. He said that they were providing good education to the students on par with private and corporate schools. VMC officials Chandrakala, Srinivas Rao, corporator G Narendra Raghava, parent's committee members, staff and students were present.
