Visakhapatnam: With Government ENT Hospital registering seven Covid-19 positive cases, the outsourcing staff demanded the hospital management to allow them for a 14-day quarantine. However, the management did not respond to their demands and hence they staged a protest at the hospital premises on Monday.

Alleging that there is no proper preventive care at the ENT hospital, the staff who participated in the protest mentioned that they have been discharging Covid-19 duties since March-end without any hassle. "But with Covid positive patients being registered in the hospital, we appealed to the management to allow us to be quarantined for 14 days for our own safety. But we did not receive any response from the management so far. Moreover, they are insisting us to discharge our duty as usual," one of the protestors said.

Over 100 outsourcing staff are working in various wings at the ENT Hospital and close to seven positive cases were registered in the hospital from the past one week. The outsourcing staff demanded District Collector V. Vinay Chand to intervene and take the necessary steps to pay attention to their health.
