Vijayawada: Fishing iron boat, which was stuck at Gate No.68 of Prakasam Barrage was successfully removed from the gate on Sunday by the irrigation staff and NDRF teams.

The fishermen boat was washed away from Ibrahimpatnam mandal a week ago with the Krishna river floodwater and was stuck at the gate of Prakasam Barrage.

Consequently, the officials could not close the gate and water was flowing downstream of the barrage. The irrigation staff and NDRF teams had been trying to remove the boat for the last four days but could not do it due to the technical problems.

Finally, they removed the boat and kept it downstream of Prakasam Barrage. Earlier, two fishermen boats were washed away in Ibrahimpatnam due to floods and reached the Prakasam Barrage.

One boat was washed away from Prakasam Barrage towards sea and the second boat got stuck at the gate. District Collector Md Imtiaz, Engineering-in-chief of Irrigation Department M Venkateswara Rao, superintending engineer KVN Chowdary and other officials were present on the occasion. Collector congratulated the NDRF teams and irrigation staff for removing the boat.
