Rajamahendravaram: Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan on Thursday lauded the historical significance of Rajahmundry and its culture and heritage at Dharma Chaitanya Sabha held here on Thursday at GIET in Rajanagaram.

The Governor along with Jagadguru Sankaracharya Puri Govardhan Seer Nityalananda Saraswathiji Maharaj inaugurated the Chaitanya Sabha. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor lauded the services of great philosophers, writers and reformers hailed from Rajahmundry.

He said that Adikavi Nannayya, Thikkanna and Yerranna, who wrote Mahabharatham in Telugu and Kandukuri Veeresalingam, a great social reformer, who implemented several reforms and fought against child and widow marriages, brought name and fame to the city.

Speaking about Adisankaracharya, Biswabhushan said that Adisankaracharya set up four Dharma Peethams to promote `Santhana Dharma' to bring equal society in a healthy and peaceful manner. He also expressed his happiness over participation of Jagadguru Sankaracharya Puri Govardhan Seer Nityalananda Saraswathiji Maharaj in the Dharma Chaitanya Sabha.

Sri Nityalananda Saraswathi Maharaj said that India is a symbol for Sanathana Culture and the Vedas are giving knowledge and wisdom to people. MLC Somu Veerraju said that Rajamahendri was the capital for Andhra Pradesh and the city gave birth to greatest personalities like Adikavi Nannayya and others.

Chaitanya Group Chairman and Dharma Chaitanya Sabha organiser K V V Satyanarayana Raju (Chaitanya Raju) thanked the seers for giving him the opportunity to hold the Dharma Chaitanya Sabha. P Gannavaram MLA Kondeti Chittibabu, Jaggampet MLA Jyothula Chintibabu, Nannayya University Vice Chancellor Suresh Varma and others participated.
