HIV patients can lead long life with medication: Experts
With advanced medication and treatment available, the HIV patients can now lead a long life, stated District and Medical Health Officer S Tirupathi Rao.
Visakhapatnam: With advanced medication and treatment available, the HIV patients can now lead a long life, stated District and Medical Health Officer S Tirupathi Rao.Marking the World AIDS Day, the DMHO said that medication was available for the HIV-positive pregnant women for prevention of transmitting the disease to their foetus.
To mark the World AIDS Day, a rally was conducted from GVMC to Ramnagar here on Sunday by the medical college and nursing college students. Andhra Medical College Principal P V Sudhakar stated that AIDS victims can avail pension facility also. DLO Pavan Kumar says that AIDS, TB patients need to go for regular check-up to prevent further complications.
District TB Control Officer N Vasundhra said that medicines will be supplied through ATR centres. Setvis CEO Srinivasa Rao and other officials participated in the event. The rally was flagged off by MP M V V Satyanarayana along with the district health officers.
As part of the day's events, AMC students presented a street play to create awareness among people on the disease and the precautions to be taken to stay from getting infected.
