Kurnool: Over 36,917 beneficiaries will benefit from Jagananna Thodu Scheme in the district, stated the district collector G Veera Pandiyan. In a press release on Wednesday, the collector stated Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched Jagananna Thodu Scheme with an aim to extend financial aid to small, petty and roadside vendors. Each identified beneficiary would be sanctioned Rs 10,000 so that they can invest and broaden their business, he said. Around 36,917 beneficiaries were identified for the scheme from the district and the government has sanctioned Rs 31.91 crore for the same. The amount would be deposited directly into the accounts of each beneficiary, the collector said.

Prior to launching of Jagananna Thodu Scheme, the vendors were used to borrow money from moneylenders on huge interest, he said. They can now invest the sanctioned amount and start the business of their own, he said and added those who are already running business can enlarge their activities. The petty and roadside vendors were sanctioned interest-free loans under the scheme, stated the collector.
