Kakinada: The Janata Curfew call given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received wide response in East Godavari district and people voluntarily participated in the fight against coronavirus by staying indoors.

All people observed self-isolation by not coming out from their houses and the streets in all towns and cities in the district wore deserted look.

Only the police and medical and health personnel have moved in the city. All bars, restaurants, wine shops, even hospitals, petrol bunks, government and private institutions have been closed voluntarily.

On Sunday evening, when a siren has been sounded, the people in the district came out from houses and clapped loudly expressing solidarity with health and other staff who are working for the wellbeing of people. As many as 850 RTC buses were confined to depots. Though people faced problems to get milk and vegetables, they happily participated in the curfew. Except medical shops and petrol bunks, all establishments remained closed.

In the view of Janata Curfew, several trains originating from Kakinada were suspended restricting unnecessary travel to prevent outbreak of corona. All Hindu temples, Churches and Mosques were closed to prevent congregation of people.

In the evening, District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy and MLA D Chandrashekhar Reddy and Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi clapped thanking the services of doctors, health staff, police and sanitary workers, who were striving to contain the spread of Covid-19.
