Hyderabad: The TDP senior leader and former Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao have created his own mark in 36 years of his political career.

Kodela was born on 2 May 1947 in Kandalagunta village in Nekarikallu Mandal of Guntur district. He studied till fifth class in his own village. After completing 10 class at Narasaraopet, He studied PUS at Loyola College in Vijayawada.

The death of his siblings, who died due to illness has caused a severe impact on Kodela. That incident sparked him to become a doctor. He completed MBBS, studied MS in Varanasi and started a hospital at Narasaraopet.

Kodela survived with wife Sasikala, three children Siva Rama Krishna, Vijaya Lakshmi, Satya Narayana.

On the call of NTR, Kodela left the medical profession and joined TDP in 1983, and won as Narasaraopet MLA for the first time. He continuously won as MLA from 1983 to 2004 and made a special mark in AP politics. After the state bifurcation, he won from Sattenapalle as TDP MLA in 2014.

Dr Kodela, who was elected as MLA for six times, has worked as a minister in NTR and Chandrababu Naidu's government. He also served as the first Assembly speaker of Navya Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation.
