Kurnool: Superintendent of Police (SP), Dr Fakkeerappa Kaginelli has strictly warned of initiating stringent action if anyone is found selling spurious seeds, pesticides and other products to farmers. On Thursday the cops have imposed Preventive and Detention (PD) Act on one Munigonda Rathnakar Rao for selling spurious seeds to farmers. The accused was sent to Kadapa central jail.

In a statement released to media, the SP of Police has said that during the raids, the accused was caught manufacturing spurious cotton seeds. Around 60 packed packets of spurious cotton seeds, 133 gunny bags filled with seeds, 1700 loose packets, a weighing machine and a switching machine were seized by the Veldurthy police.

He was caught in the same act in 2019. He was selling the seeds on Pavani seeds and that doesn't have any licence.

Despite having a case against he did not mend his behaviour. Again he was apprehended on the same charges. Viewing the issue to be a serious one a case under Preventive and Detention (PD) Act has been imposed and sent him to Kadapa prison, stated the SP.

He also warned that no one would be spared if anyone is found selling or manufacturing spurious seeds, pesticides and other products to farmers.
