Eluru: In connection with polling scheduled on March 22 for election of MLC of two Godavari Districts Graduates Constituency, the district election officer and Collector Praveen Kumar announced two dry days starting from 4 pm on March 20.

Sale of liquor will be banned during the period under Section 135 C of RTA Act, 1951. The liquor sale in hotels, eateries, shops and other places is banned during the period.

The deputy commissioner of excise department has been asked to implement the ban strictly.

The department is asked to take steps to prevent supply and sale of liquor to enable peaceful conduct of the polling.

At the same time the excise department will take preventive steps to arrest flow of liquor from border districts.
