Andhra Pradesh: The South Central Railway has resumed the train services from Vijayawada on Monday after the centre has eased the lockdown. The passengers at the station were jam-packed. Almost two and a half months later, a large number of people are making their way to the railway station as trains resumed from today. Passengers flocked to the station 90 to 120 minutes before the departure of the train. Hundreds of passengers queued up to the road.

At the station, the officials have set up white markings on the ground to observe the physical distance. Officers have allowed passengers into the station only after screening and ensuring that they don't have the Coronavirus symptoms.

As many as fourteen special trains are scheduled to take off from Vijayawada to Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai. The railway department has completed all arrangements at Vijayawada railway station and those who have reservations were allowed into the railway station. The centre on Saturday has extended lockdown in containment zones till June 30 and eased at green and orange zone. The resumption of railways with the special train has come in the wake of the extension of the lockdown 5.0.
