Markapuram: Prakasam district education officer VS Subbarao announced that the Naadu-Nedu works in the government schools in the district will be completed by July 31. He conducted a review meeting with the headmasters of the schools in Peddaraveedu mandal on Sunday.

Mandal education officer D Mastan Naik presided over the meeting, in which the DEO explained that the 1341 schools in the district are being repaired with a budget of Rs 282 crore. He said that they have already completed 61 percent of the works like toilets, drinking water, furniture, major and minor repairs, availing only 31 percent of the budget.

He said that the government is installing a mineral water plant in each school by digging bore wells to the water supply, running water in toilets, etc. He said that they are providing a playful schooling atmosphere with good education, playground and other facilities superior to the private schools and advised the parents to utilize them for their kids.

He ordered the headmasters, CRPs and MEOs to see the works in the schools are completed by the month-end. He said that the parents' committees are monitoring the works in association with the engineers and announced that all works will be of best quality.

He said that there are 27 schools in the mandal and the facilities and infrastructure like furniture, blackboards, English labs, etc would also be provided with 1.6 crore budget. Dr Srinivas Reddy of the district Sarvasiksha Abhiyan, academic monitor officer Rajasekhar Reddy and headmasters also participated in the programme.
