Minister assures all-round development of Prakasam

Participating in the 73rd Independence Day celebrations at the District Police Parade Grounds in Ongole on Thursday, Anil Kumar said that the government was committed to complete the first tunnel of the Pula Subbaiah Veligonda Project by December and supply water for drinking and irrigations needs of locals.
He also promised to provide water to 62,000 acres in kharif and 80,000 acres in rabi season through the Kandula Obulareddy Gundlakamma Reservoir. He said they will take measures to supply drinking water to 2.56 lakh people under the project.
He announced the government was establishing YSR Agriculture Laboratories in every constituency to provide best quality seeds, fertilizers and pesticides. He announced that while 3,45,144 farmers from Prakasam district were registered for free crop insurance, 3,43,957 farmers have utilised the service by taking loans from the banks and kept Prakasam in top of the list.
In the 12 tableaus displayed in the celebrations, the common tableau by agriculture, horticulture and micro-irrigation departments won the first prize, village secretariat tableau by the district panchayat officer won the second prize and the common tableau of MGNREGS and water conservation programme by DWMA won the third prize. The forest, education, rural water supply and women and child welfare departments won the consolation prizes.
The in-charge minister distributed assets worth Rs 157 crore to 6,895 beneficiaries and appreciation certificates to 385 officials. He also presented the appointment orders and ID cards to few village and ward volunteers in the program. Ministers Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Dr Adimulapu Suresh, collector Dr Pola Bhaskara, SP Siddharth Kaushal and other district officials were also present.
