Newly-constructed divisional sub-treasury office inaugurated

Anakapalli: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu said the treasury system plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilisation of government funds.

Inaugurating the newly-constructed divisional sub-treasury office building in Narsipatnam here on Tuesday, the Assembly Speaker said it was built at a cost of approximately Rs 75 lakh. He mentioned that steps are being taken to route payments under the VB-G RAM G employment guarantee scheme through the treasury system as well. Ayyanna Patrudu stated that funds released by both the Central and state governments for various welfare and development programmes would be routed through the treasury department, ensuring greater accountability and leaving little scope for misuse.

Recalling the earlier system, he said there was inadequate accountability regarding expenditure when funds were directly released by the Central government to universities and colleges. He welcomed the Central government’s decision to route even grants and other financial assistance to universities through the treasury system, stating that it would strengthen financial discipline.

Ayyanna Patrudu stated that the construction of new sub-treasury buildings is underway in Kotavuratla and Nakkapalli areas of the district. Jana Sena Party constituency in-charge Suryachandra, TDP town president Chintakayala Rajesh, Market Committee chairman Gavireddy Venkataramana, Tehsildar Rama Rao, revenue and treasury department officials, and TDP leaders attended the programme.
