Renowned flute artiste Dr Jayaprada Ramamurthy has been appointed as director of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams’ Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC).

Tirupati: Renowned flute artiste Dr Jayaprada Ramamurthy has been appointed as director of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams' Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC). She received the order Deepavali day.

Jayaprada, a Doctorate holder from Osmania University, is acclaimed as the first female flautist of the twin Telugu states, has many national awards to her credit and also national fellowship from Union ministry of culture.

This year she was also honoured with the Kartik Award of Excellence 2019 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai. She was also feted at Prime Minister's Office and the then CM and Governor, on being conferred with honorary world and national records, for her pioneering efforts towards introducing transpose fingering technique amongst women flautists.

Jayaprada is the Asthana Vidushi of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, Mysore Datta Peetham, Yadadri Devasthanam, Srisailam Devasthanam and many other religious establishments.

It may be noted that at the behest of newly-elected YSRCP government, TTD appointed noted film comedian Pruthiviraj as chairman-cum-director of SVBC.
