Rajamahendravaram: Tension prevailed for some time in Dosakayalapalli village of Korukonda mandal on Friday, when some miscreants demolished the statue of TDP founder and former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao on Thursday night.

Hearing the news, former TDP MLA Pendurthi Venkatesh and hundreds of party activists gathered at the spot and demanded the government to arrest the accused immediately and reinstall the statue of the TDP founder. North zone Deputy Superintendent of Police Kadali Venkateswara Rao,

Rajanagaram inspector MVS Rao, Korukonda sub-inspector P Vijay Kumar rushed to the spot and controlled the situation. Clues team and dog squad pressed into service to nab the accused.

Rajamahendravaram parliamentary constituency president KS Jawahar alleged that attacks on SCs were increased in Rajanagaram constituency after YSRCP won the election here. TDP will launch an agitation, if the government fails to arrest the miscreants.

Meanwhile, YSRCP central governing board member Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi and others visited the spot and enquired about the incident.
