Anantapur: The district administration is gearing up for the local body elections scheduled for March 21.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, District Collector Gandham Chandrudu stated that the last date for filing of nominations for MPTC and ZPTCs is March 9. The date of withdrawal is March 11 and the date of scrutiny is March 12. The date for appeal against rejection of nomination is March 13. For MPTCs, appeal should be made to the RDO and for ZPTCs, they have to appeal to Deputy Collector. The last date for withdrawals is March 14 before 3 pm. The publication of the final list is after 3 pm the same day. Counting will be on March 24 and results will be declared the same day.

Anantapur ZP chairman post is reserved for BC women. Of the 63 ZPTC members, 32 are reserved for women. For SC women 2 and men 1, ST women 5 and men 5, BC women 9 and men 9, and other women and men 16 each.

Total number of mandal presidents is 63 and total members of MPTCs is 841 out of whom 440 are reserved for women and 401 are for men. The total amount permitted for election expenditure for MPTC is Rs.2 lakhs and for ZPTC is Rs.4 lakhs. Model code of conduct comes into effect from Saturday. ZP chief executive officer Shoba Rani was also present.
