Ongole: Mahatma Phule was a social activist who proposed the reforms required for Indian society, said the DRDA project director Elisha.

He participated in the release of the book, 'Tholi Sanskartha Phule' written by Dr Sangisetti Srinivas marking the 140th anniversary of the anti-liquor movement. The programme was held by the Janudi- Centre for Literature and Arts at the Velugu training center in Ongole.

In the programme presided over by Janudi director Dr Nukathoti Ravi Kumar, Elisha released the book and observed that the revolutionary proposals made by Phule were now being attracted by masses.

YS Digvijay, an educationalist reviewed the book and praised him for the services rendered to the poor in education.

Writer Kathi Kalyan, Miriyam Anjibabu, Prasanth, Ambedkar and others also participated in the programme.
