Ongole: Due to the increase of Covid-19 cases in the country, the Prakasam district police department issued an advisory to the public asking them to inform about the foreign returned persons in their neighborhood.

In the advisory, SP Siddharth Kaushal informed that the persons arrived from the foreign countries recently should undergo test for Covid-19. As there is a chance of a few people missing the test, the SP asked the public to inform the police and medical officers about foreign returned persons in their neighborhood. He said that the public should be on high and informative on arrival and departure of any person to the other countries. He warned that stern action would be taken on people who spread rumors and gossips about Covid-19.

The advisory by the police said that Covid-19 spreads very rapidly and if anyone found suspicious with symptoms of the disease in their home, they should be admitted in the isolation and quarantine wards at hospitals in the district immediately for treatment, with the aid and assistance of village secretariat staff. The police department announced special surveillance and inspection on roadside food courts/takeaways with the cooperation and coordination of panchayat, municipal staffs to shut down permanently if they found unhygienic food served in them.

The department asked the public to follow all the precautionary measures like washing hands with soap or sanitisers 6 to 7 times a day, not to roam in crowded areas, wearing masks covering mouth and nose, and avoiding shake hands and embracing others as suggested by the health department to prevent spread of the virus. It said that the public should postpone or avoid traveling, processions, religious fairs, carnivals and other social gatherings unless emergency.
