Rajamahendravaram: Desiltation of drains in two municipal corporations and seven municipalities are going on snail's pace, though the monsoon season is fast approaching. In every rainy season many low-lying areas in the urban areas are inundating in rain water due to lack of proper maintenance of drains. Though there are necessary funds available, the respective commissioners are not initiating steps to clear the drains, which became regular feature in the district.

In Rajamahendram Municipal Corporation desiltation was completed in a length of 63.42kms as against of 201.12kms and in Kakinada Municipal Corporation desiltation was completed in 35kms as against of 136kms.

Meanwhile, in Amalapuram municipality silt was cleared in 17.50kms as against of 135kms, in Pithapuram municipality desiltation was completed in 49kms out of 52 kms, in Samalkot municipality silt clearance was completed in 5kms as against of 15kms.

In Mandapeta municipality desiltation was completed in 2 kms out of 7.14 kms in Ramachandrapuram municipality silt was cleared in 2.5kms as against of 8.15kms, in Peddapuram municipality the silt was cleared in 14kms out of 28kms and in Tuni municipality desiltation was complted in 3.5kms as against of 8.5 kms.
