District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy has said the administration was taking al the necessary steps for implementing road safety norms to curb road accidents.

Kakinada: District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy has said the administration was taking al the necessary steps for implementing road safety norms to curb road accidents.

He said that as many as 1,348 road accidents took place from January to July this year and 171 persons were killed in accidents involving two-wheelers and 81 persons in four-wheeler accidents. Many were injured in the accidents. He said that majority of the road accidents took place only due to violation of traffic rules, especially by the two-wheeler riders.

Not wearing helmets, over speeding and triple riding were the reasons for accidents in case of two-wheelers. Not wearing seat belts, violating traffic norms, using mobile phones during driving and others are the reasons for accidents with four-wheelers. He also said that everyone should be aware of Road Safety Norms in view of Supreme Court verdict.
