Siddha Unit starts its services at SVIMS in Tirupati
The Siddha Clinical Research Unit (SCRU), one of the peripheral units of Central Council for Research in Siddha CCRS), Ministry of AYUSH has been running successfully at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS).
Tirupati: The Siddha Clinical Research Unit (SCRU), one of the peripheral units of Central Council for Research in Siddha CCRS), Ministry of AYUSH has been running successfully at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS).
The unit started its health care service and clinical research in January and the medicines are provided free of cost. Unique Siddha therapeutic procedures like Varmam, other external therapeutic procedures like fomentation, medicated massage are also done for musculo-skeletal disorders. The Siddha system received great support and good response from the people of Tirupati in availing the health service, said the SCRU in a press communique.
The Director-cum-Vice-Chancellor of SVIMS Dr TS Ravikumar has been providing guidance and support to the Research Unit and as per the instructions of the Director General, CCRS, Chennai, it has been now ready to join hands in the global efforts to fight against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD).
#The SCRU has planned to organise health care programme for patients with Diabetes and Geriatric ailments.
The patients were categorised under 94 varieties of diagnosis based on Siddha literature. Of the patients visited the unit in recent times, 19 per cent belongs to geriatric age group and 11 per cent are patients with Diabetes. The special OP for Diabetes will be on Monday of every week while the special OP for geriatrics will be conducted on Tuesday. Medicines under special OP are also supplied free of cost for 14 days.
