Home Minister Mekhathoti Sucharita said the government is taking steps to bring reforms in all prisons across the state. Speaking at a launch of Skill Development centre at Kadapa central jail on Friday asserted that the would take the concerns of the prisoners to the notice of chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and ensure that the necessities have been fulfilled.

Deputy CM Amzad Basha, MP Avinash Reddy, MLA Gadikotta Srikanth Reddy, Korumutla Srinivas, Collector Hari Kiran, Jails DG Mohammed Ashan Raza, SP Anburajan and other officials participated in the event. The Home Minister inspected the various goods and food processing units prepared by the inmates who were being jailed.

Speaking to media, she said that the Modern Skills Development Unit was commissioned today at a cost of Rs 4 crore 70 lakh. "Such a Skill Development Unit is only available in Switzerland, " HM said. "This technology was introduced in Kadapa Prison for the first time in the country; we will discuss with the Chief Minister about the release of prisoners who have been sentenced for years, " Home minister Sucharita asserted.

The home minister said that the government's intent is to help the inmates with employment, once they are released after serving the punishment, hence the skill development is set up in Kadapa.
