Speculations rises as Karanam Balaram meets Sujana Chowdary
The lunch meeting between the TDP Chirala MLA Karanam Balarama Krishnamurthy and BJP Rajyasabha MP Y Satyanarayana Chowdary in Ongole on Friday
Ongole: The lunch meeting between the TDP Chirala MLA Karanam Balarama Krishnamurthy and BJP Rajyasabha MP Y Satyanarayana Chowdary in Ongole on Friday, rises speculations in the district politics. The BJP MP is in town to participate in the Mahatma Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra and interaction with the party cadre at a private function hall.
Speaking to the media, the MP said that though the national party with Gandhis ruled India for decades, its mistakes lead to the generation of many regional parties including the TMC, NCP, TDP, YSRCP and others. He said that the regional parties in both Telugu states have become homes for hierarchal politics and proving that only national party like BJP is best for the country. He announced that there is a number of leaders from Telugu Desam Party are waiting to join BJP and are in discussions with local leadership.
Responding to the question about the meeting with Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan, he said that the meeting between them is casual and only on a friendly basis.
Later, the BJP MP met Karanam Balaram and his son Venkatesh over lunch at the relatives' house of the latter, along with some leaders of the party. The TDP leaders who participated in the protests against the state government, requesting anonymity said that Karanam Balaram didn't show interest in participating in the protest along with them, though he is available in the town.
They opined that Balaram didn't receive any promise for the political future for his son Venkatesh from Chandrababu Naidu and he cannot join YSRCP as he opposed its leaders up to now. They suspect that Sujana Chowdary is promising Chirala and Addanki assembly seats to Karanam family to woo them into the BJP.
However, responding over the lunch meeting, Karanam Balaram thrashed the speculations and said that it is not his character to switch loyalties. He said that the lunch meeting is only like a cordial meeting between friends for a long time and there is no political importance to it.
