Tirupati: Giving big relief to the Institute, the Sunday free clinics being run by the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) have got funding from regular donor Rajiv Shrigopal Bajaj.

SVIMS has been running free clinics for epilepsy, hypertension, diabetes, post cardiac valve replacement and other related disorders and distributing free medicines to the patients. The cost of medicines given during these free clinics costs up to Rs 50 lakh per annum. Due to huge financial crisis and funding shortfall, SVIMS Director Dr TS Ravikumar has been on the lookout for donors, who can support SVIMS to run these free clinics.

Rajiv Bajaj, Director of Mumbai-based Vital Laboratories has come forward continuing his unstinted support to the SVIMS. Responding to the plea by the Director, he agreed to fund under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and the medicines will be sent in multiple consignments.

Rajiv Bajaj has already provided funding to SVIMS under various schemes especially Sri Balaji Arogya Varaprasidini Scheme to build SVIMS advance research facility 'CfAR' (Centre for Advanced Research). Dr Ravikumar has said that this generous funding helps the vulnerable population in Rayalaseema, who are getting services at the free clinics.
