TDP demands handover of TIDCO houses to poor

Amaravati: TDP MLAs and MLCs led by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu took out a rally up to the Assembly on the second day of the winter session on Tuesday, demanding the government hand over the completed TIDCO houses to the poor families immediately.
Holding placards and raising slogans, the TDP members alleged that the houses were already completed under their regime but the government was not handing them over to the intended beneficiaries out of political reasons. The Opposition would continue its struggle till the TIDCO houses were given to the deserving poor families.
In addition Naidu, TD Legislature Party deputy leaders K Atchannaidu, Nimmala Ramanaidu and others took part in the rally.
The TDP leaders also questioned the government as to what happened to the Chief Minister's promise to construct 5 lakh houses per year. As per this, nearly 7.5 lakh houses need to be constructed in the past 18 months but the ruling party leaders were not talking about this at all. The Chief Minister only knew how to make empty promises to break them freely without any accountability to the people, they said. Stating that lakhs of houses were completed under the previous government, the TDP MLAs asserted that the YSRCP government had no right to spoil those houses by keeping them empty. The ruling party leaders should realise that they would be making a great disservice to the people if they cause damage to the TIDCO houses.
The TDP leaders raised slogans, praying that the YSRCP eclipse that was casting its shadow on the TIDCO houses, should go away soon. They demanded that fair compensation should be given to all those who suffered losses in the Nivar cyclone which ravaged many parts of the state.
The Opposition leaders demanded Rs 30,000 per acre for paddy farmers and Rs 50,000 for horticulture crops.
Also, Rs 10,000 should be paid to the poor families who lost their livelihoods and work opportunities. Artisans, weavers, fishermen and others should be paid Rs 15,000 for suffering heavy losses.
