Eluru: As per the bill introduced by the State government, the tenant farmer would henceforth be treated as 'cultivator', said Joint Collector 2 N Tej Bharat. Addressing district-level bankers meeting here on Monday evening, he announced that the exercise to select eligible farmers and land cultivators to extend benefit under Rythu Bharosa scheme is underway in West Godavari district.

As many as 3,45,412 land owners have been identified so far. After scrutiny, the State government would deposit Rs 12,500 in their bank accounts on October 15. While Rs 6,000 is earmarked under Prime Minister Kisan Yojana, Rs 6,500 will be deposited under State government's Rythu Bharosa, he announced.
