Popular theatre artiste, director and founder of Savera Arts Kadapa Alluri Venkataiah has been felicitated at the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amravati here on Tuesday, said Dr E Sivanagi Reddy, CEO, CCVA.

Vijayawada: Popular theatre artiste, director and founder of Savera Arts Kadapa Alluri Venkataiah has been felicitated at the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amravati here on Tuesday, said Dr E Sivanagi Reddy, CEO, CCVA.

He said that Venkataiah (83), founded Savera Arts 50 years ago and promoted theatre culture in the state and won 25 Nandi (2 gold, 2 silver and 21 bronze) awards from AP Government and received Surabhi Vanarasa Govindarao Award and Telugu University Keerthi Puraskar in recognition for his talent in histrionics.

He played the roles of Sri Krishna, Markandeya, Arjuna and innumerable roles in social plays. Dr Reddy also said that he scripted and directed nine plays and won the best director award many a time. M Chimpiraiah and Balakrishna of Malaxmi Group participated in the felicitation programme.
