Tirupati: The 9-day day annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram, 13 km from here were off to a colourful start on Friday with celestial Dhwajarohanam at the auspicious Meena Lagnam. TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal took part in the event along with JEO P Basanth Kumar and other officials. Later speaking to media, the EO said that civil engineering works worth `24lakh and electrical decorations worth `6.75 lakh were taken up for the festival.

"Arrangements were made for Anna Prasadam for 500 devotees every day while on February 18 in view of Garuda vahanam Anna Prasadam will be served to more devotees," EO said.

He said TTD has made floral decorations with 7 tonnes of flowers and the HDPP, Annamacharya Project, Dasa Sahitya Project artistes will present cultural and dharmic programmes every day.

Srivari Sevakulu and scouts and guides deployed to support the existing temple staff in view of devotees rush during the Brahmotsavams. The temple tank Pushkarani was cleaned and refilled with clean water for Chakra Snanam on February 22, on concluding day of the nine-day fete.

The EO also said, Tirumala Srivari laddu is made available for devotees to purchase during the annual fete in the temple.

DyEO Elleppa, Additional CVSO Siva Kumar Reddy, other officials were also present.
