- The leaders allege that the Modi government at the Centre has been adopting anti-people and anti-labour policies
- Demand Rs 10,000 and 10 kg rice monthly to each family of those who lost their employment due to lockdown imposed to curb Covid-19
Tirupati: As part of the nationwide stir, trade unions CITU, AITUC and IFTU staged a protest at TTD Administrative building here on Friday against Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's pro corporate and anti-people and anti-labour polices.
The protest was also to press the Centre for payment of Rs 10,000 and 10 kg rice monthly to each family ( other than IT assesses) who lost their jobs to help them tide over the difficulties they are facing due to pandemic Covid-19.
Holding red flags, the protestors raised slogans against PM Modi for his failure to come to the rescue of large number of people affected by Covid-19. Addressing the gathering, CITU vice-president K Murali slammed Modi government for its pro corporate approach at the cost of the poor and labourers in the country.
The spiralling prices of petrol and diesel led to the hike in the prices of essentials hitting hard the common man adding more to their woes, he said.
The CITU leader lashing at the Centre for its move to privatise the profit making Railways, said it was part of the Modi government's aggressive privatisation move at the cost of employees and the people of the country AITUC deputy general secretary Venkatasubbaiah said both Modi government and the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in the state are adopting anti-employees and anti-labour policies.
He demanded regularisation of all contract employees and to take effective steps to control the rising prices.
IFTU general secretary R Harikrishna said both PM Modi and Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy have failed in providing succour to those working in the unorganised sector, who lost their employment due to pandemic.
