Tirupati: A zero FIR was filed by Renigunta urban police in the abduction case of a six-month-old boy. The incident took place two days ago. According to the reports, the boy was abducted by an unidentified woman near Renigunta railway station. However, she reported the issue to Renigunta urban police on March 3 night.

A woman Swarna Latha from Tadipatri of Anantapur district reached Renigunta to live with her parents after she left her husband Sivudu following differences. As she fell out with her parents also after her husband reached there and quarrelled with them to take her back, she left their home about a week ago.

Since then she has been staying on platform at Renigunta railway station with the child. Observing this, a woman named Anitha and claimer that she was a sweeper working at the station had approached her with some kind words and offered food and new clothes to her.

She even assured her a small job so that she can settle down in life. She asked Swarna Latha to wear new clothes and when she went away for that, she left the place with the child. The mother of the toddler said that she first approached Renigunta railway police who refused to register a case and directed her to Renigunta urban police. There, police have received the complaint and on the instructions of Urban SP A Ramesh Reddy, registered a zero FIR and started investigating the case.

Two teams were set up and sent to Tamil Nadu and Vijayawada after examining the CC TV footage at railway station. They identified the culprit from that footage and forwarded her photo to all police stations in AP and neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Renigunta urban CI Anju Yadav has been monitoring the case and it was learnt that they were getting closer to the suspect.
