Kondapi: Tobacco farmers from Kondapi and surrounding villages staged a protest at the auction centre, demanding the minimum assured price for the low-grade tobacco and purchase the bales.

The local leaders of tobacco farmers and their supporters have been conducting various protests in the town demanding the purchase of low-grade tobacco bales for a better price. As part of the protests, the farmers from Jaggaraju Palem, Ayyapparaju Palem, Narasarao Pale, Vaddinenivari Palem and other villages in the constituency gheraoed the local tahsildar Sujatha and demanded her to implement the decision of the government to provide better price and purchase the leaf by government agencies. They pacified only after the tahsildar assured to take necessary action after consulting with the RDO and district officials.

The farmers announced that they will continue to organize protests until they get justice and left the place.
