Tirupati: The dreams of Chittoor–Madanapalle people to travel to Chennai by train from their places conveniently are becoming true finally. There was a demand from the people of Chittoor and western parts of the district for a train to Chennai.

Several people commute daily on business and other works. The former Chittoor MP Dr N Siva Prasad also put in his best efforts for such a train but could not succeed during his term.

The present MP N Reddeppa and Rajampet MP, P Mithun Reddy have continued the efforts and made the train possible. Speaking to The Hans India, Chittoor MP Reddeppa has said that the railway authorities gave their clearance for the intercity train.

"We have made continuous efforts for the train in the best interests of the people. It would be convenient for them to travel to Chennai for business and other works," he stated.

The proposed new train will travel between Chennai to Madanapalli via Chittoor which will be operated by Southern Railways (SR) . Except on Wednesdays and Sundays, this train will run on the remaining five days in a week.

This train is scheduled to leave Chennai at 8 am to reach Chittoor at 11.25 am and Madanapalle at 2 pm. In the return direction it leaves Madanapalle at 2.45 pm and reach Chennai central station at 8.55 pm.
