Ongole: The micro observers appointed for the election process should be very keen and sharp in delivering duties and report any discrepancies, said the Special Collector Chandramouli.

He organised a training programme for the micro observers about their duties and responsibilities in Ongole on Thursday.

The special collector announced that about 37,000 officers are being part of the assembly and parliament elections.

He said that they have appointed 1,200 senior officials including bankers as the micro observers and asked them to follow the checklist given to them to report any violations.

He said that they observe whether the election is going on as per the process, polling agents' attendance, admission of people whose names are in the list to vote, application of undeletable ink on the finger of voter, signature or thumbprint of the voter in the 17A register etc.

He said that the micro observers will work under the supervision of the general observers and explained their duties with a power point presentation and gave a demo of VVPAT, EVM, and controlling unit.

The lead district manager Venkateswara Rao said that the bank officials should report any suspicious transactions in the accounts of candidates or their spouses.

He said that candidates should open a new bank account at least one day before the nomination and transact through that account only during the elections.
