A two-day workshop-cum-refreshing classes for the state panel cricket umpires concluded at Dr GLGR-ACA Cricket complex here on Sunday.

Vijayawada: A two-day workshop-cum-refreshing classes for the state panel cricket umpires concluded at Dr GLGR-ACA Cricket complex here on Sunday. The programme was organised by the Andhra Cricket Association. About 45 umpires attended this workshop.

The classes were held for umpired qualified in the ACA State Panel Umpires examination conducted in April last year. Classes were conducted to update with latest information and preparing for ACA matches. S Rama Krishna, Ravikanth Reddy and K Prabhakara Rao conducted classes on both theory and practical aspects and taught them the techniques of umpiring with the help of videos.

Topics like decision making LBW, team work, calculation of over's when there was interruption of play, duties and responsibilities before the match and during the match were explained. As many as 18 umpires participated in induction programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch Arun Kumar, secretary of ACA said that ACA as a part of the Game Development Programme, also focusing on increasing the quality and standards of the panel umpires.
