Thousands of customers visit hotels, shopping malls

Vijayawada: With the Covid-19 'Unlock 1.0' began on Monday, thousands of people stormed the restaurants, hotels, shopping malls in the city. The hoteliers and shopping malls implemented the guidelines issued by the government on physical distance and wearing masks.

Big shopping malls in the city were closed for more than 70 days due to Covid-19 lockdown rules. But, the state and Central governments issued permission to open the malls from Monday subject to some conditions. The malls have reduced the staff and been trying to maintain physical distance. Thermal screening is must for the customers and staff arranged sanitizers to clean the hands.

Food lovers too enjoyed the first day of Unlock on Monday. They visited the hotels and restaurants to have delicious culinary. The hostels and restaurants were asked to keep open 50 percent area open and clean the tables after the customers left the table. Moreover, special attention is being given for cleaning the door handles, hand wash taps, tables and chairs etc. Due to closure of hotels and restaurants, many people particularly the bachelors suffered problems in the city. Now, they get respite with the reopening of hotels and restaurants.

The city also gradually limping back to normalcy as almost all shops, restaurants, commercial complexes, showrooms and malls were opened. R Sudheer, a customer visited a restaurant in Gandhi Nagar said he was delighted to visit the restaurants and to have lunch with his friend. Some customers came with family as they got the opportunity to visit hotel after the gap of more than 70 days.

It is expected the trading activity will pick up in the city with the re-opening of all commercial establishments particularly the shopping malls, hotels and restaurants. Families will get opportunity to spend a few hours enjoying food and shopping.
