Vijayawada: TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu severely condemned the attack on the students of Acharya Nagarjuna University here on Monday.

He along with CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna and others called on the injured students who are recuperating in a hospital in the city.

Naidu said that the students were attacked in the very presence of the Vice-Chancellor which was not good. "How could there be attacks against the students when they were democratically staging demonstrations," he asked.

He alleged that the Vice-Chancellor was openly supporting the ruling party. He took strong exception to a rally being taken out on the university campus with the photograph of the Chief Minister. "The university should not be used for political gains," he said. The TDP supremo said that the government was vindictive against senior IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao by issuing orders in the middle of the night and even conducting Income Tax raids. CPI State secretary Ramakrishna said that people all over the State were demanding Amaravati as their capital. He said that it was highly deplorable that the attacks on students took place in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor. "We have the list

of the irregularities indulged in by the Vice-Chancellor," he said.

Former Minister Kollu Ravindra, former MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, Amaravati Parirakshana Samiti leaders A Siva Reddy, Gadde Tirupati Rao, Dr Kartik, RV Swamy and others were present.
