Vijayawada: Relaxing lockdown further, the state government on Tuesday gave permission to open textile, footwear and jewellery shops in the state with certain conditions.

The relaxation is expected to give a major breather for lakhs of shops across the state which have bean remained closed for the last two months under the lockdown. However, permission is denied for the panipuri kiosks, which are seen across the state.

The trading community has been lobbying vigorously for the past few days to get the permission to reopen the shops.

Earlier, the government gave permission to other businesses including factories to operate subject to a few conditions like limited workforce and social distancing. With this latest directive, now almost all shops in the state will be opened soon.

The government said gold shops must maintain disposable hand gloves in the showrooms.

It is also insisting that wearing mask is mandatory for both traders and customers as well as maintaining of physical distance to check the spread of coronavirus.
