Visakhapatnam: Thousands of Telugu and English books continue to fly-off the shelves at the ongoing 'Visakha Pusthaka Mahotsavam' that began here on November 1.

With Telugu literature topping the charts, the racks here dot with an array of genres catering to diverse age groups and that's what makes the 20th edition of the book exhibition featured by Visalandhra Book House the much-sought after destination for book lovers.

Since November 1, Turner's Choultry has turned to be a favourite place for enthusiasts in the city to spend a while who love to flip through the pages of their favourite author's books kept here on display and also bring home some of the collections.

According to Visalandhra Book House manager P A Raju, around 1,000 books were sold during weekdays and the figure increased during weekends. "Despite the online presence, there are many who still prefer visiting the standalone stores to buy books. With our long-standing relationship with clients, the craze for visiting an outlet for books continues to exist," he asserts.

The book fair was visited by several prominent persons in and around city, including GITAM president M Sri Bharat. The exhibition will remain open on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 pm.
