Visakhapatnam: The seven-year-old Patvad (male) and 12-year-old Maheswari (female), the Asiatic lion pair, finds their way to a new house at Indira Gandhi Zoological Park here on Friday to greet the curious visitors.

The Asiatic lions from Sakkarbaug Zoo, Junagadh of Gujarat were received as part of the exchange programme for a pair of wild dogs. They were released in the enclosure in the presence of Divisional Forest Officer C Selvam, Chief Vigilance Officer of RINL P J Vijayakar, NTPC senior manager P Anand Kumar and area officer of Waltair Marshalling Yard Anil Kumar.

According to zoo curator Yesoda Bai R, a pair of zebras will be released soon in the enclosure next month as part of another exchange programme. The zebras were received from Alipore Zoological Gardens, Kolkata in exchange for wild dogs and lemurs, the zoo curator informed.
