G L Puram (Vizianagaram): The State government is implementing several schemes for the welfare and upliftment of tribes.

District SP B Rajakumari said the youth should avail the schemes and derive benefit. She said education is a powerful weapon to overcome poverty.

She said the tribal youth and children should go to schools and continue their education to achieve higher positions. The SP organised a special camp in remote Savarakotapadu village in G L Puram mandal of Vizianagaram district on Monday.

Rajakumari said that the parents of the children should put an eye on their young ones and correct them if they are walking on wrong path.

The parents should avail the facilities provided in government hostels and colleges and send their children to schools instead of works. The parents should encourage the children as per their interests, she said.

The reservations provided by the government serve as a boon for tribal youth to achieve progress in life, she added.

N Surya Chandra Rao, Officer on Special Duty, said that the police department is always a step ahead to help the tribes to empower them.

"We are ready to guide them in several aspects to get into police department. We will give training and guidance," he said. Earlier, the SP spent some time with the locals, took part in group dance and and had lunch with thems. Later she distributed groceries, sarees and sports material.
