Kakinada: East Godavari Collector Karthikeya Mishra suggested the doctors to adopt medial practices that are being implemented in Kerala State to minimise the Mother Mortality Rate (MMR) in the district also.

Addressing the inaugural programme of a workshop organised at KGGH on MMR reduction on Friday, the collector advised the medical fraternity to take necessary guidelines from Dr Samarth Ram, a noted obstetrician and gynaecologist of Palkkad in Kerala. In this connection, Karthikeya Mishra said the girl child should be taken care for 20 years and the family should concentrate on this aspect.

The collector also said that discrimination against girl child should be completely avoided and equal importance should be given to both male and female child. The collector complimented the efforts of Dr Samarth Ram in reducing the MMR rate and suggested the medical officials to follow his advises for reducing MMR in the district.

Dr Samarth Ram explained the process of FSLT-1 anti-angiogenesis protein removal, which causes bleeding resulting in to death of mother. KGGH Superintendent Dr M Raghavendra Rao, Principal of Rangaraya Medical College Dr R Mahalakshmi and DMHO Dr Ramesh Kishore participated.
